Abortions and Vasectomies for Attendees of the DNC?

If you do not want to read anything political, then skip this article. Some of you have expressed a desire to avoid the news until next January and I totally understand and support you. But if you want to be informed, I humbly offer the following reports and reflections.

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago is coming up this week and the New York Post reports that attendees “will have the opportunity to get a free abortion or vasectomy just blocks away from the event — and vasectomy appointments are filling up fast.”

Vasectomies are being offered on Monday and medical abortions are being made available on both days. To be clear, this means to sterilize a man in the case of a vasectomy. And in the case of abortion, we are referring to the intentional murder of an innocent unborn human person.

This is all par for the course. Kamala Harris has been campaigning very hard on the fictional right of a woman to slaughter her child in the womb. She calls it a “fundamental freedom.” Abortion has become a focal point of the Democratic Party platform. And it is unambiguously being pushed as front and center. The murder of children is being pushed as front and center.

I have been consistent and adamant in my refusal to concede any ground to those who wish to pretend that abortion is a good thing. It is always a reprehensible evil and an abomination that cries to God for eternal vengeance.

But vasectomies point to how deep the mental block is for Democrats. They clearly think that fertility is a disease to be cured. The line of thinking goes that a man is doing something loving in mutilating himself so that the onus of birth control is on himself and not on the woman. Contraception, in and of itself, is evil. Read Humanae Vitae and Evagelium Vitae for the details. In summary, contraception intends to prevent life by separating the procreative and unitive ends of marital intercourse. But sterilization takes this evil to the next level by adding the evil of mutilating a healthy male reproductive system.

We are called to love one another, not use one another. Engaging in sexual activity outside of marriage is ALWAYS use. The sexual act has the natural end of procreation as a possibility, which demands permanence. This permanence can only truly exist in the stable bond of matrimony of one man and one woman.

The properly functioning male body does not need to be fixed by mutilation, and the young preborn body in the womb does not need to be disposed of. The Democratic Party claims that the charges that they are anti-family are Republican propaganda. It seems to me that these charges have merit.

I do not intend this post to be overly political. I am simply drawing attention to the barbaric evil of vasectomies and abortions being made available in conjunction with the DNC. However, I think it is worth calling out something I saw on the news earlier today: Vice President Harris’ proposed economic plan.

Regarding Harris’ economic plan, CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Post have all called it “populist gimmicks.” One of the points of this plan is a $6,000 newborn child tax credit. This is populist gimmick because the Democratic Party is open flaunting the desire for people to have less babies (because… you know… the environment… or whatever the latest talking point is to continue living a hedonistic lifestyle unburdened by children). So, less babies means less of a payout of the $6,000 tax credit. Okay… I’m being a little sassy. But the other points are no less gimmicky.

She proposes a cap on prescription drug costs: great. She wants a $25k subsidy for first-time home buyers: this is a band-aid that will probably make inflationary pressure in the housing market worse. But the one that I am struggling with the most is this: a ban on price gouging for groceries and food. If you look into the wording of this idea on the fact sheet, it seems to suggest that businesses like Kroger’s should not charge more for their products than their own cost. That’s not business; that’s Communism. This idea of Harris combatting price gouging is at best a populist gimmick and at worst a Soviet-style attempt as price controls.

At any rate, groceries are 25% more now than when Biden and Harris took office. And there is no evidence that companies are price gouging. So, it seems to me to be more smoke and mirrors.

So, what does any of this have to do with the DNC, abortions, or vasectomies? I think everything.

The true communists and socialists in the Democratic Party have an outsized voice these days. They are setting the agenda and communicating their desires through official channels. All the while, the sitting Vice President is pretending to be an underdog even as she refuses to sit down for an interview with the most-Democratic-friendly press in human history. All the while, the Democratic Party (officially in their platform) are pushing a radical agenda aimed at the decimation of the unborn child in the womb who dares to be an temporary inconvenience, the sterilization of men en masse, and the pushing of radically stupid economic policies that will stall the American economy (perhaps irreparably in the short-term).

The Democratic Party is becoming increasingly anti-Catholic in every way imaginable. No practicing Catholic can be a Democrat today, unfortunately.

Please do not misunderstand me. I do not like the Republican Party. They have caved on marriage. They are caving on life issues. And they are caving on religious freedom, limited government, constitutional originalism, and American traditionalism, in a lot of ways. And the care of the poor and marginalized has never really been sufficiently addressed and prioritized. However, on the balance, the shortcomings of the Republican Party and massively overshadowed by the Democratic Party.

We are in for a wild ride this Fall leading up to November. But I urge you all to pray that God’s will be done in your own life. Both Trump and Harris are deeply flawed candidates (as are their running mates). As Catholics, we do not have a truly good, clear choice. At the moment, I intend to vote for Trump based on his record in office. But I am well aware of the many legitimate reasons a Catholic might not be willing to choose the better of two bad options - and I respect your choice. But I implore, for the love of all that is good, do not vote for Harris and actively campaign against her in your homes, places of work, and other community gatherings. She simply cannot win without tremendous suffering and persecution coming our way. But if she does win, then so be it. May God be glorified through our suffering and persecution.

Abortions and vasectomies are being offered like you would offer a free bag of popcorn. This is horrendous evil and we should be scandalized. We should not be surprised at this point, but we should be scandalized. And we should make our voices heard.
